One of the most common reasons people give for not having a fitness coach is time. Between a demanding job, a commute, family life, and social commitments — finding a consistent slot for training feels impossible. At Core and More Fitness in Clapham, flexible scheduling is built into how we operate. Here’s what that looks like in practice.
Early Morning Sessions
Morning training has a strong body of evidence behind it as a consistency strategy. Sessions completed first thing are not subject to the unpredictable demands of the working day: the last-minute meeting, the delayed train, the client call that runs over. What gets scheduled in the morning actually happens.
Physiologically, morning sessions work well for most types of training. Testosterone and cortisol are both naturally elevated in the morning, which supports strength training performance. Core temperature rises quickly with a proper warm-up. For fat loss goals, fasted morning training has some evidence for slightly increased fat oxidation — though total calorie balance matters more.
We offer sessions from 6:30am — before the working day begins — so even South West London professionals with 8am or 9am starts can train without compromising their morning routine.
Evening Sessions
Evening training suits clients who prefer to use exercise as a decompression after the working day. Research actually shows that physical performance peaks in the late afternoon to early evening — core temperature is higher, reaction time is faster, and strength is marginally higher than in the morning.
For those who find the gym is a useful way to mentally switch off from work before going home, evening sessions have both physical and psychological advantages.
We offer sessions until 8:30pm to accommodate clients who finish work late or who prefer to put their children to bed before training.
Consistency Is the Priority
The best time to train is the time you will actually do it, consistently. Our scheduling approach is built around your life — not the other way around. If that means alternating between 7am sessions on Tuesdays and 7pm sessions on Thursdays, we make that work.
When onboarding new clients, we look at their week holistically and identify two or three time slots that genuinely work with their existing commitments. Locking these in as recurring appointments dramatically improves long-term adherence.
